Over the comin***onths, we will be p**viding co**tesy upgrades to select nodes within o** Los Angeles DC-02 datacenter that are still running on spinning d**ves (SSD Cached infrastruct**e). As you may know, all of RackNerd’s other VPS locations are already running nodes on p**e SSD (and we ***n have some Ryzen offe**ngs with NVMe available). As a forward thinking company that is continuously looking for paths to imp**ve customer expe**ence, the node that yo** VPS is hosted on has been selected as a node that we’d like to upgrade. While there aren’t any particular hardware i**ues today with the node you are on, we’d like to imp**ve o** ******* by offe**ng a FREE upgrade to a 100% P**E RAID-10 SSD envi**nment, which will p**vide yo** VPS with si**ificant performance boost, free of charge.
Any IP addre**es a**i**ed to yo** VPS will be retained and will not be changed. We will do ***rything that we can to make this p**ce** as seamle** as po**ible for you.
The node yo** VPS c**rently is on is called: DC02LAXKVM55 and will be migrated to node: LAXSSD540nerd1DC02
The migration for yo** node is scheduled for the below timeframe:
Wednesday, September 7, 2022 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM PST.
At any point in the above timeframe, yo** VPS migration will begin. Before the migration, we will safely shut down yo** VPS and then begin the migration. Once the migration begins, yo** data will be moved to the new host at a rate of about 1-3GB per minute. Once the migration is completed, yo** VPS will **tomatically boot back up on the new host and will be acce**ible again using the same IP addre** and same credentials. This is a fully **tomated p**ce**, and we do not acce** yo** VM manually.

The timeframe allocated is too such short notice — can you delay the migration?
No p**blem, we understand that this particular timeframe may not be convenient for yo** needs — e-mail bizdev@racknerd.com for an alternative solution, and we’ll be s**e to take care of you and schedule something. You would need to e-mail us at least 48 ho**s p**or to the above timeframe. In most instances, it’s only minutes of downtime for the migration, but we’re happy to discu** solutions if you’re unable to afford the minutes of downtime in the c**rent allocated timeframe.
How will I know when the migration is done?
You will know the migration is done when yo** VPS comes back online after the migration. You can also ve**fy the node name by logging into the SolusVM VPS Cont**l Panel, which will tell you what node yo** VPS is on. Once the node name contains the word &*uot;SSD&*uot; in it, it will mean that yo** VPS has been succe**fully migrated and booted up to the new host node, and you will be able to now enjoy the benefits of p**e SSD performance!
I have other VPS’s with you on other Los Angeles DC-02 nodes, when will those be migrated?
We understand these upgrades are very appealing, and that you may want other *******s to also receive the co**tesy upgrade. While we cannot guarantee other nodes will be migrated, we are working towards that. We understand that this is going to increase demand — we simply won’t be able to accommodate an upgrade for ***ryone at once, given the size of o** Los Angeles DC-02 footp**nt. How***r, as a forward d**ven company, we are working to standardize offe**ngs to have, at minimum, SSD, with ability to upgrade to a premium NVMe offe**ng. You will receive another email similar to this when and if yo** node is scheduled for migration and will be given advanced notice.
How is RackNerd able to p**vide such a good (and ***n imp**ved) ******* and still be sustainable without increasing p**ce?
As a company, we value each and ***ry one of o** customers beyond what other companies would simply look for (which is based on initial r***nue). Instead, we’re looking to invest in o** customers, and we’re interested in keeping them for years to come – while p**viding them with the competitive p**cing we do today, ***n years forward, with a goal in mind to not increase p**cing. We care about the longevity and relationship with o** customers, and that itself is **** valuable than anything else to us. We are still a for-p**fit company, and o** main objective here is to g**w together with o** customers th**ughout the p**ce**.
What do I need to do before the migration window?
Please plan for yo** VPS to be offline for a pe**od of 1-3 GB per minute d**ing any point of the above mentioned timeframe. Additionally, while we will be migrating all data over, we would recommend backing up yo** data as an extra prec**tion for data integ**ty p**or to the migration window.
Do I need to do anything after the migration is done?
No, you do not. We will migrate yo** data and you will also retain yo** same VPS IP addre**. Credentials, yo** sof**are installed, etc will remain the same. Nothing is e**entially dist**bed, except for the 1-3 GB/minute of downtime d**ing the migration p**ce**. On average, we usually see a VM can be offline for minutes, not ho**s.
How much faster disk performance can I expect to receive?
Each node will be running on 8x enterp**se grade SSD’s in Hardware RAID-10, p**viding you with amazing performance! You can expect to see about 5x faster Disk I/O performance on yo** VM.
